I think a large part of making this dream a reality is having environmental and global issues embedded in the K-12 curriculum with actual Global Issues classes in the middle and high schools. We had a Global Issues class at ASD and did a lot of work with raising environmental awareness both on and off campus. It is a must for any school that considers itself green.

There must also be a Green ethos created on campus with parents and teachers on board as well as the students. It takes time and patience. It is literally like planting seeds, but the rewards are vital.

A bit off topic, but have you seen this: http://www.storyofstuff.com/

It has been around for a while now, but great to share with kids and staff.
